The Hong Kong Rebar Importers & Stockists Association (HKRISA) is making commendable efforts to protect the environment and drive the construction industry towards digitization and sustainability. Through active collaboration with relevant departments and organizations such as the Housing Department, Standing Committee on Concrete Technology (SCCT), Construction Industry Council (CIC), Hong Kong Construction Association (HKCA), Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), and Buildings Department, HKRISA is committed to fostering a more sustainable and efficient construction process.

A significant step taken by HKRISA is the decision to provide digital stockist certificates to its customers, starting from August 1, 2023. This move aims to reduce paper wastage and promote information sharing. Currently, the manual signing and verification of stockist certificates and manufacturer's certificates/documents result in a substantial amount of paper consumption. By embracing digital files or soft copies of these certificates, construction sites can streamline their processes and contribute to a greener construction industry.

Established in 1989, The Hong Kong Rebar Importers & Stockists Association (HKRISA) plays a pivotal role in promoting the import of reinforcement bars (rebars) in Hong Kong, with its members covering approximately 80% of imported rebars.

Reinforcement bars are essential components in constructing buildings and infrastructure works. Hong Kong's annual import of over 1.4 million tons of rebars represents a significant portion of the rebars used in the region. Hence, HKRISA's initiatives can have a substantial positive impact on the environment and contribute to the overall sustainability of the construction sector.
